Pam Stocksdale, the rally organizer, remarked to me how
happy she was that after 8yrs Blue Mountain was represented
at Tetrathlon again! Jackie, Kim, and Leslie had a great
time, made new friends and definitely want to do this rally
again next year. Jackie did the senior girl division and
received 2nd in riding, 6th in swimming, 5th in running and
4th in shooting. She did the max requirements for all
phases. Kim and Leslie did the non-qualifying "wild card
division" where you can choose what level of each phase you
want to compete at. Kim received 2nd in riding, 2nd in
running, 3rd in swimming, 6th in shooting and 2nd overall in
her division. Leslie received 1st in running, 1st in
swimming, 4th in riding and 4th in shooting. Leslie rode
Sunshine and jumped a course with her for the first time
away from home. All three have not had a lot of practice
time and did an impressive job this weekend! Great job to
all three of you!
|
Kim scrambled with Annapolis PC and had a great time. Her
short team placed 8th out of 15 teams. Kim learned a lot, it
was her first 2 day rally and first time competing at Fair
Hill.
|
Michi has qualified for nationals in Dressage!
Congratulations to her and we all wish her well!
We have not sent anyone to Nationals for awhile either!
|
Jill, Kim, Jesse, and Breelynn are attending.
|
Everyone attended had a good time I am told and learned a
lot.
|
After lots of rained out mounted meetings, events, etc, we
managed to get some games practices in and our novice team
of Jesse, Jill, Breelyn and Lillie did a great job at the
rally. All novice teams received blue ribbons, but I believe
we actually placed either 2nd or 3rd. Lillie had a perfect
score for her turnout and Jill had a perfect score along
with 2 exceeds standards for her turnout, both being their
first rally. Thank you to Kim for coaching the games team
and for lugging all that water on the day of the rally. It
was the hottest games rally ever!
|
Michi, Erin, Kim and a scramble member took 7th place riding
and and 5th horse management. For our 3, it was their first
C rally with horses.
Jackie competed as a C3 this year. Michi and Jackie tried to
qualify for Nationals and did an impressive job with upper
level tests. They also had to ride musical
freestyles and Jackie choreographed both rides. Julianna was
supposed to be the stable manager, but their was a mistake
on the paperwork, so she helped with horse management. Thank
you Julianna for being a good sport!

Mounted meeting at Emily's and rating- was well attended,
congratulations to all that rated up! Names will follow, I'm
not sure who all rated.
|
Hello folks,
I have a calendar change for this month:
There is NO UNMOUNTED MEETING this Tuesday, April 15. Sorry
for any inconvenience.
Instead, there is a parents' meeting at Angie's house, in
Carlisle on Tuesday, April 29, 2008 beginning at 7 p.m. We
are going to discuss fund raising for the year, upcoming
events and some organization/committees within our club. One
important thing we have to discuss is the D Eventing Rally
that our club is co-hosting on Sept. 7 at Fair Hill. We also
have some fun fund raising ideas. Or at least one fun fund
raiser.
ONE MORE THING: In order to make things more simple for
mounted meetings, please contact Emily Dietrich directly to
RSVP. That gives her the information faster and cuts me out
as the middle person. You can e-mail Emily (who promises
she's up and going on e-mail now) or call her. I'll still be
sending out the information as usual.
For those of you who recently joined, it is important to
RSVP for mounted meetings because we need to schedule riders
according to ability. That way, more experienced riders are
with each other and the new riders are together. Then
everyone gets more out of their lesson, the instructor is
happy and there is less frustration.
Our next mounted meeting is at Emily's farm outside Newburg
at noon on April 26. So again, please contact her directly
whether your child will be there. If you cannot get hold of
Emily for whatever reason, please feel free to contact me
and I'll pass your info on.
Questions? Call me.
Thanks,
Angie

Elkridge Hartford round robin- Jesse, Breelynn, Jackie, Kim
and Jill attended. Jesse did all 3 phases, Breelynn did a
dressage test and a stadium round, Kim did all three phases
HC( down a level), Jackie unfortunately had a sore horse so
had to scratch and Jill came to watch. Although it was
extremely muddy and cold, everybody handled it like true
sports!

Mounted meeting at the Young's farm was well attended ,
Christine Price was the instructor and we had a beautiful

2008 promises to be out best year ever. We have a lot of new
members who will be joining us along with a great group of
older, more experienced pony clubbers. Leigh, our new
secretary sent out a email concerning our first
parent/sponsor meeting which is to be held at the
Cavanaugh's home on Saturday February 9th at 3:30 pm. Please
make the time to attend this meeting as we have many
important things to discuss as well as put the calendar
together at least for the first three months. Please take
the time to RSVP to Leigh about your attendance. Remember if
you aren't present, we won't know your thoughts or ideas.
QUIZ:
Quiz is a great opportunity to go to a rally without a
horse. We will be holding weekly study sessions, which will
count as un-mounted meetings regardless if you will be
attending quiz or not. I encourage all members to attend
quiz. It is a wonderful opportunity to show what you know.
Knowledge is power, and the more you know, the better you
will perform at shows and rallies. You can have a $50,000.00
horse who spooks during the most simple dressage test, but
if you can recite your D or C manual, you have the power.
Quiz is the 29th and 30th of March. We have plenty of time
to study and get prepared.
Please let Leigh know if you want to attend Quiz. We need to
make up the teams and paperwork must be submitted. I'm not
sure now when the deadline is to submit paperwork, I am just
asking for a head count.
I hope to see all the sponsors/parents
at the February 9th meeting.
Thanks Leigh in advance for your help.

Jackie,
Michaela, and Kim checked out the new format of a dressage
schooling show. You ride your test, have a 10 minute
schooling session with the judge, then ride the test again
for your placing. Jackie, competing on her sister's
horse whom she normally doesn't ride, received a 66.6 on a training
level 4 test, Michaela placed with a 66.3 on her first time
ever competing first level, and Kim finally places in the
sixties, with a 67.5 on a training level 2 test. Everybody
seemed to learn from the positive remarks from the judge and
had a great day despite the gloomy, wet day.
See calendar
for Wilson College 2008 show schedule link.

Please join
with me in congratulating our newest C1 members.
Both Kim and Michaela passed their C1 rating today. It was a
very cold and windy day for a rating, but our two Blue
Mountain girls went with a smile on their face and the will
to win.
Congratulations, both of you. I know I speak for the entire
club when I say how proud we are of both of you for a job
well done!!
Thanks so much,
Tammy, DC

The games
clinic was a success, in spite of the weather, Leah and
Greta did a great job teaching our pony clubbers. I
would like to thank Leah's mom Kristi and Greta's dad Curtis
for all their help managing the games course.
A big thanks
goes out to Janet for all her time spent and hard work
setting up this clinic.

I would like to
announce the results of yesterday's Eventing Rally. Our team
of Kim, Leslie, Michaela, Marina and stable manager Rachel
had a wonderful day. They placed fourth overall and 2nd
place in Horse Management. Congratulations, girls its was
really fun to watch you compete. You had a good time and
worked together so well as a team. I am proud of each and
every one of you. Also a very special thank you to Michael's
mom, Lorelei who coached the team. What a great job you did
and I want to express to you how much I appreciate all your
help. I think you must have walked 50 miles yesterday going
over all the cross country jumps! We are really enjoying
having your family in our club this year.
Thanks also to Janet for chaperoning our team. Each of these
girls worked really hard to achieve this success and deserve
to be recognized. Keep up the good work, our club is really
looking good these days.
